Community
As a firm, we take our responsibilities to the wider community in which we live and work very seriously.
Forsters' partners, lawyers and staff actively support a variety of community initiatives, from raising funds for local charities to pro bono work with youth organisations, charitable trusts and Citizens’ Advice Bureaux.
The firm has an ongoing commitment to and partnership with Centrepoint, an organisation that works with disadvantaged young people in London, and each year staff vote for a second charity to support – in 2010/11 that is Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of a much loved member of staff who lost her battle with this illness last year.
Centrepoint works to support young people who are on a downward spiral, to give them a chance to turn their lives around and build a more fulfilling future. They have a hostel in nearby Soho which has “benefited” from paintbrushes wielded by Forsters staff, who also mentor some of the homeless youngsters in helping them to implement the plan they will have put together to achieve their personal goals.
Fund raising initiatives have varied from an annual treasure hunt around Mayfair for staff and clients to a winter sleepout on the streets of London and a traditional Xmas fete with home produce gifts, not to mention leaping out of aeroplanes from a great height. These sit alongside the continuous efforts of our runners in national and London based races and any excuse for a fundraising sweepstake.
Forsters is also proud to have sponsored the Superfoods garden presented by Centrepoint at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2010, and is delighted that the garden won a Bronze Lindley award for exhibits of special scientific or educational interest.

Forsters also became a corporate member of the National Theatre in 2009 to add our support to enable the NT not only to continue to present some of the finest plays but also help them with their nationwide education programme. Staff and clients also then benefited from back stage chats with cast and crew giving us a fascinating insight into a very important arts programme in our city.
Some time ago we also launched a major sustainability initiative which acknowledges our responsibility to reduce our use of natural resources and promote sustainable working practices. Our “Green Committee” consists of staff across all departments and they are proud of the difference they are making and the Carbon Neutral status they have managed to achieve for the firm.
