Forsters advise on student accommodation development in Southampton

Forsters has acted on behalf of real estate investment and development advisor, Investra Capital in relation to their joint venture with Apache Capital Partners in respect of the redevelopment of 14 Cumberland Place, Southampton into student accommodation.

Planning permission has been granted for the erection of a 12 storey building on the site to provide 141 flats for student occupation (198 bedrooms) with associated parking and other facilities. The scheme, which will comprise a mix of studio and two and three bed flats, is anticipated to be completed for the start of the 2018 academic year.

A cross-practice group team from Forsters advised Investra on the deal. Lead partner, Andrew Crabbie advised on Commercial Real Estate matters, assisted by Hannah Rickard. Corporate partner, Christine Dubignon advised on corporate structuring and due diligence. Head of Construction, Sarah Cook, assisted by Emily Holdstock advised on the construction package, with further support from Property Litigation partner, Ben Barrison, and Matthew Evans and Claire Saffer in the Planning team.
