Landmark Lighthouse building let to VEVO

Forsters has advised UK Real Estate on the letting of the Lighthouse, London to video hosting service VEVO, as its new London office headquarters. VEVO, which is a joint venture between Sony and Universal, has taken 16,500 sq ft of new grade A office space on a 10-year lease.

The Grade II listed building, which is located directly opposite the King's Cross station concourse, occupies a prominent corner site at the junction of Pentonville Road and Gray's Inn Road. It has been recently redeveloped by UK Real Estate, having previously been on Historic England's Buildings at Risk Register. The origin of its distinctive turret is the source of much debate among local historians, with theories ranging from Victorian helter-skelter to it being a demarcation that the building originally served as an oyster house.

Commercial Real Estate partner, Martin Halling, advised UK Real Estate throughout the letting process. Forsters also advised on the acquisition of the site and in relation to planning and redevelopment matters.
