Jo Edwards quoted by the Press Association commenting on enforcement of financial orders on divorce

Jo Edwards was quoted in an article by the Press Association commenting on enforcement of financial orders in divorce cases.  It related to the case of Peter Elliott, who has failed to leave his marital property having been ordered to vacate four years ago.

Jo commented, "an order in divorce is simply a piece of paper until the payee receives the money or asset that a court has ordered a former partner to pay. If, as in this case, the partner thwarts this order, it can be extremely disheartening for a the other party to face further expensive and time-consuming legal proceedings to implement the order. The Law Commission's work in seeking to streamline the enforcement process is welcomed and clients and practitioners await their recommendations with interest to avoid these types of cases”.
