Dean Monk

Senior Associate, Property Litigation

Dean is a member of the Property Litigation team at Forsters, primarily focusing on property litigation issues in the commercial sector.

He has advised on lease renewals (opposed and unopposed), rent and service charge disputes, break notices, dilapidations, removing telecommunications operators, nuisance claims, possession and forfeiture proceedings, bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings, building defects, compensation claims arising from the exercise of compulsory purchase orders, defending judicial review claims, and business rates.

Dean's clients include institutional landlords, asset managers, pension funds, and estates. Dean also has experience dealing with utilities providers, property developers, education clients, and luxury retailers. During 2015, Dean undertook a secondment at a global asset management company.

He qualified at Eversheds LLP in September 2013. He joined Forsters in January 2016.

Landlords seeking to recover rent from their commercial tenants were dealt a further blow on 23 April 2020 when the Government announced further measures to protect commercial tenants during the lockdown period.
