Centrepoint and staff charity

Getting involved

Forsters has worked with Centrepoint since 2007 and in that time has raised over £250,000 to support Centrepoint's work.   We chose Centrepoint as our main charity because of the work it does to alleviate homelessness amongst young people living on the streets of Central London. For a firm based in the heart of Mayfair it is a perfect choice to help young people living in our midst experiencing the hardships of being alone and at risk.

We are involved in a range of fundraising activities in support of Centrepoint.  The main event each year is the Centrepoint Sleepout when volunteers spend a night sleeping out to raise money and to increase awareness about the plight of homeless young people.

In addition to supporting Centrepoint through fundraising we are able to give more direct help.  We provide mentoring support and work experience for young people in the Centrepoint programme to give them the confidence and skills to enter the world of work.  Our partners and staff have also helped with projects such as decorating one of the Centrepoint hostels, supporting the Centrepoint fundraising team in its bid to attract new corporate supporters and also helping the team at Centrepoint HQ to dress their Christmas tree.

Staff Charity

In addition to supporting Centrepoint staff chose a different charity each year and a proportion of the firm's total fundraising is donated to this charity. In recent years the staff charity has been Age Concern, the brain injury charity Headway, Pancreatic Cancer, Help for Heroes and Macmillan Cancer. In 2015 the COA Homeless Project, which runs a soup kitchen in London providing hot meals to homeless men and women, has been chosen.

The Charity Committee organises and coordinates a range of fund raising activities and events. These include cake bakes, book sales, pop-up shops and a popular Christmas Fayre. For the more energetic there are a host of opportunities to raise money whist getting fit: from running marathons (and shorter distances of course), taking part in triathlons and for our cyclists a number of cycle races too.

We have an annual treasure hunt around the streets of Mayfair. Teams of clients and contacts compete to solve the clues and negotiate the route as quickly as possible. The emphasis is on raising money and having fun.

"It's a very capable department and a very pleasant team to deal with. They have a wide area of expertise."
