Soho House appoints Forsters for property work on expanding porfolio of hotels and restaurants

Soho House, the high profile group of upmarket members clubs, hotels and restaurants, has appointed Forsters to act on a number of matters relating to its growing property portfolio. The Soho House group is expanding rapidly in the UK, Europe and the USA, targeting affluent, sophisticated markets with a focus on the media and arts sectors.

To date, Forsters has acted on several matters including the acquisition of a new lease of the Hoxton Grille: the restaurant at the Hoxton Hotel in Shoreditch. The Soho House group has recently taken on the five year lease for the restaurant from hotel owner Sinclair Beecham, founder of the Prêt a Manger chain. Other matters on which Forsters has assisted include the completion of a licence for Soho House to occupy additional space in Dean Street, and the grant of a new lease of additional space for Cecconi’s restaurant in Burlington Gardens.

The team at Forsters was led by new partner Craigie Pearson, who specialises in the hotel and leisure sector and recently joined the firm from Withers. She was assisted by property solicitor Chris Ogle.

The Hoxton Hotel was represented by Joe Morris from Wragges. The additional space for the Dean Street property was taken from Kettners, owned by the Restaurant Group, who instructed Jonathan Reuben at Lewis Silkin. The space for Cecconi’s was leased from EPIC, who instructed Alistair Crichton at Taylor Wessing.
