7 Questions Couples Should Ask Before Getting Married: Jo Edwards featured in Brides magazine

Head of Family, Jo Edwards, wrote a piece for Brides magazine raising key questions that couples should consider before marriage.

The article, entitled ‘7 Questions Couples Should Ask Before Getting Married’, sees Jo drawing on 20 years’ experience as a family lawyer and mediator to share with readers the important conversations to have with their partner before tying the knot, including:

  • Do we want to have children?
  • How will we manage our finances?
  • Will we both work?
  • Where will we live?
  • Dealing with particular issues associated with blended families
  • How will we resolve our differences if we disagree?
  • What does marriage mean to you?

Jo acknowledges that there are no right or wrong answers but underlines the importance of discussing such questions in order to help put in place strong foundations for the future: "Spending the rest of your life with the person you love is a wonderful prospect. Having these conversations is all part of that exciting journey and will hopefully stand you in good stead for a long and happy marriage."

Our Insights

“The calibre of the partners and associates is very high compared to other firms. They have a broad depth of experience and technical skill which is not always found in other firms. Their staff retention rates seem high too, which helps the client experience.”
