The central London Restaurant market with Emma Flather of Hanover Green Retail

Emma Flather, partner in the restaurant and leisure agency team at Hanover Green Retail and Forsters’ Senior Associate, Jade Capper, join podcast host Miri Stickland to talk about the central London restaurant market, challenges for landlords and tenants in the sector and some particular quirks of restaurant lettings.

“Quality, value and experience are at the epicentre of a successful restaurant. Dining out is more than just eating, from the moment a reservation is made to leaving the restaurant, it’s a collection of mini-experiences that stay with the consumer and impacts whether they return or not.”

“The days of private equity rolling out twenty restaurant sites a year seem to be over. Operators with smaller collections of restaurants are now opening one or two sites a year in London and then also looking internationally.”

"We are seeing more of an emphasis on collaborative landlord-tenant relationships. Landlords are analysing their tenants turnover data and they are collectively cross-marketing for and with each other.”
