Andrew PennySenior Associate, Private Client
Andrew has a variety of client including very substantial trusts owning prime residential London and country estates. He acts for a number of individuals in general private client matters. He has a particular interest in charity law and acts for a number of significant grant-making and service providing charities.
Andrew trained with Frere Cholmeley, qualifying originally into the Company and Commercial department. That experience has proved useful in the corporate and business affairs of charities and in forming and advising the corporate vehicles of lessees exercising rights to the collective purchase of freeholds. Two years in Monte Carlo has given him a familiarity with French property and succession law which has been put to use advising some of the many UK families with homes in France. On his return to London he has also acted for substantial trusts and notably one with a valuable collection of old masters and landed estates.
His degree is from Oxford in Classics, the Greek of which was revived for a more recent certificate in Christian Studies from Lampeter and the Latin of which has proved useful, inter alia, in establishing a client's manorial rights off the Menai Straits.
