Taking climate action
In October 2021 we were one of the first law firms of our size to make a public commitment to halve our Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, from a 2019/20 baseline. In September 2023 our target was verified by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi).
Our Sustainability Board, which comprises our Responsible Business Partner, Managing Partner, Heads of Finance, Risk and Operations, and Responsible Business Manager, sets our strategy, ensures we have the right systems and processes in place, and reviews performance.
Our Green Impact Group engages the firm on environmental issues and our strategic priorities. The Group provides a forum to share ideas and create experiences that drive a culture of sustainability including volunteering opportunities that support nature restoration projects.
Memberships and partnerships
Sustainability is at the heart of all we do at Forsters. We understand the importance of businesses of all sizes taking action to address climate change and we are proud to be one of the first law firms of our size to commit to a science-based reduction target.
Through our Green Impact Group we harness the enthusiasm across the firm for environmental initiatives by: creating experiences that raise awareness and drive behaviour change; hosting events where colleagues can deploy their green fingers; and collaborating with teams to embed best practice and support the firm’s goals.
Responsible sourcing
Our aim is to consistently put social and environmental impact at the heart of the decisions we make when buying products and services. We want to ensure that every pound we spend has a positive impact.
Our Supplier Management Programme is led by our Risk and Compliance team. Our Supplier Management Policy stipulates that new suppliers must complete a detailed ESG questionnaire and sign up to our Supplier Code of Conduct, which includes ethical business practices, environmental management, diversity and inclusion, and human rights.

In January 2024 we moved to 22 Baker Street. The space has been carefully designed, planned and executed with sustainability at its heart, rewarded by BREEAM Excellent certification. BREEAM is the world’s leading building certification providing a framework to specify and measure the sustainability performance of buildings, ensuring that sustainability goals are met during construction and fit out and that the building can continue to perform optimally over time. Evaluation factors include reduced carbon emissions, low impact design, adaptation to climate change, ecological value and biodiversity protection.
The BREEAM Excellent certification has been awarded to Lazari Investments Ltd as developer and landlord and Forsters LLP as tenant, together with the contractor and design team, reflecting the depth of collaboration between teams. It is an important certification for the firm as it plays a significant part in our journey to meet our defined net zero targets.
