The 19-strong London Private Client team from Gowling WLG has today joined leading private client and real estate law firm Forsters LLP.

The team includes four partners – Anthony Thompson, Catharine Bell, Nick Jacob and Daniel Ugur – as well as ten solicitors and five other members of staff.   The Private Client team at Forsters now comprises 48 lawyers and together with family and contentious trust and probate, the firm's wider private wealth offering will contribute more than one third of the firm's revenue.

Forsters Private Client team already enjoys a strong profile amongst US and European clients.  This acquisition enables it to extend its geographic reach to the Middle East and Asia, where the former Gowling WLG partners are recognised for advising high net worth individuals and families, investors, family offices and entrepreneurs with complex needs.

Paul Roberts, Managing Partner at Forsters, comments:

The Gowling WLG team are an excellent addition to our private wealth offering and to the wider firm.  Our strategy of focusing on what we are good at has been successful and we have no intention of changing it. This acquisition will be another significant step in Forsters becoming a recognised market leader in one of our chosen areas of excellence."

Anthony Thompson, former head of Private Client Services at Gowling WLG added:

This is an exciting time to be joining Forsters.  We all look forward to being part of the Private Client team's ambitious plans and are focused on bringing a new dimension to the firm's private wealth offering".
