Charity and pro bono

Supporting charities

Partners and staff work together to support a range of charitable organisations. In addition to making donations from our own charitable trust we encourage active involvement through a range of fund raising activities and lawyers working in a pro bono capacity.

Forsters Charitable Trust

The Forsters Charitable Trust is a grant-making charity set up by the partners in 1998. The partners make annual contributions to the charity to enable it to respond to appeals (very often for sponsorship) from clients and contacts of the firm and from members of staff. The trust also makes grants to charities which are themselves clients of the firm.

Over the years the Forsters Charitable Trust has been able to support a wide range of charities with donations from a few hundred pounds to much more substantial sums. By doing this the partners are also able to support the funding raising efforts of the staff for Centrepoint and for the staff charity selected annually.

Pro Bono

Forsters partners and staff are engaged in a variety of pro bono activities that benefit our local and wider communities. We use and apply our legal expertise to assist small charities with issues such as lease negotiations and advice on administrative responsibilities.

We also encourage partners and staff to give their time to projects for individual charities that they wish to support. Many lawyers share their expertise by volunteering at legal advice centres.

Across the firm staff are encouraged to participate in a reading scheme at local schools which helps children improve their literacy skills and confidence.

"They are responsive, technical, practical and professional. I have no reservations sending a high or ultra-high net worth client to them to take matters forward from a UK perspective - they're a safe pair of hands."
