Emma WhiteSenior Associate, Private Client
Emma is a solicitor in Forsters Private Client team. She is experienced in advising both UK and overseas individuals in relation to a broad range of personal taxation and estate planning matters.
Emma's experience includes drafting wills and advising on associated tax planning issues, as well as preparing and registering UK Lasting Powers of Attorney. She also advises clients on the creation and use of trusts as a means of succession planning and preserving family wealth, including advising non-UK domiciled clients on the creation of excluded property trusts to shelter assets from UK inheritance tax.
Her work for international clients includes providing advice in relation to the UK rules on residence and domicile, as well as remittance planning and associated UK income tax and capital gains tax issues. She also has experience in advising non-UK resident individuals in relation to the tax implications of acquiring UK property and the structuring options available.
Emma has particular experience in estate planning for US citizen clients with links to the UK and she travels regularly to the US to meet clients and intermediaries.
Emma graduated from Exeter University in 2008 with a dual qualification in UK and French Law, after undertaking the Maitrise en Droit (Master I) programme at the University of Rennes in her final year. Emma completed her LPC at the College of Law in London and trained at Burges Salmon LLP in Bristol from 2009, until she joined Forsters in 2011.
