The new foreign income and gains regime
On 30 October 2024, the UK government confirmed that they will press ahead with the abolition of the non-dom tax regime. Draft legislation has been published setting out the detail of the new rules, which will apply from 6 April 2025. Read our summary of the proposed four-year foreign income and gains (FIG) regime here. Those who qualify for the FIG regime will benefit from a complete exemption from UK tax on their foreign income and gains, whether or not they remit them to the UK.
