Forsters advise on flagship Covent Garden letting to Boots

Forsters has advised The Mercers’ Company on the letting of 28,000 sq ft of prime retail and office space to Boots. The retail and office premises, located directly opposite Covent Garden tube station, forms part of the wider Mercers’ Covent Garden estate. Boots will occupy the ground and first floors along with part of the basement and second floor on a 20 year lease.

The prominent retail unit will undergo a comprehensive refurbishment before opening its doors to shoppers in 2019. The ground floor will include an offering of premium cosmetic and beauty brands, with a pharmacy and other retail extending over the ground and first floors. The new letting will add to the portfolio of established high street brands occupying the estate alongside up and coming boutique retailers.

Commercial Real Estate group head Matthew Swainston advised the long standing Forsters’ client, The Mercers’ Company, assisted by associate Kathryn Copeland. Stuart Andrews of Knight Frank and Matt Hyland of Hanover Green acted jointly as letting agents for the Mercers, with Martin Collier of WPL Consulting representing Boots.

The lease successful completed in March 2019.
