Forsters has advised HIFML UK Property Fund managed by Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP Real Estate) on the acquisition of the newly developed Harlequin Building, 65 Southwark Street, London SE1 from Rockspring UK Value Fund for £40 million in a deal which was conducted off-market in only 7 days.

Forsters has advised a private overseas investor on the acquisition of landmark city centre office investment, Kings Court in Leeds.

The 47,000 sq ft property is let in its entirety to law firm Walker Morris LLP, who have occupied the building since its development in 1989, with an annual rental income of £891,000.

Supreme Court's judgment in Daejan Investments Ltd is good news for landlords

The Supreme Court has today handed down its decision in the case of Daejan Investments Ltd v Benson & Others [2013]. The Court has overruled the decisions of the LVT, the Upper Tribunal and the Court of Appeal by granting Daejan Investments Ltd, the landlord, dispensation from the consultation requirements under Section 20 of the LTA 1985.
