Forsters trainees win prestigious Gamlen Prize

Forsters' trainee solicitor Timothy Evans has been awarded the annual Gamlen Prize with Alexandra Treacy (who is due to start her training contract with Forsters in September 2019) the runner up.

The Gamlen Prize was set up in 1991 under the Gamlen Charitable Trust in memory of St John Gamlen, the last of five generations of solicitors, and the Gamlen family. The Prize is awarded on behalf of the Westminster and Holborn Law Society and is open to LPC students who have a training contract with a firm in the Westminster and Holborn area.

Timothy and Alexandra were nominated by their LPC providers on the basis of the criteria "most promising candidate on the LPC run within the Society’s area, regard being had to the candidate’s ability to reduce a complicated subject to simple and lucid language which is suited to a lay client". A shortlist and interview process took place, where the candidates were asked, amongst other things, to explain the concept of a mortgage to a first-time buyer.

Timothy comments: "It is a privilege to be the winner of the Gamlen Prize. I look forward to implementing and building upon the skills and knowledge I acquired whilst on the LPC as I continue my training at Forsters".

Alexandra comments: "I was very honoured to have been chosen as the runner up for the Gamlen Prize, and I'd like to thank everyone at the Westminster and Holborn Law Society for a great evening at their President's New Year Celebration".

Helen Marsh, Residential Partner and Training Principal comments: "At Forsters we are in a fortunate position to be able to recruit such talented trainees like Tim and Alexandra. They are a credit to the firm and we wish to congratulate them both on their hard work".
