COVID-19 and the Real Estate Market

Podcast host, Knowledge Development Lawyer Miri Stickland, is joined by a trio of partners, Magnus Hassett from Commercial Real Estate, Ben Barrison from Property Litigation and Emily Holdstock from our Construction team, to discuss some of the issues we have seen affecting the real estate market as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In terms of steps being taken to mitigate impact, where landlords and occupiers are consulting, co-operating and collaborating together, we are seeing some mutually beneficial packages being arranged at an early stage.”

“From a development point of view, construction sites are continuing to operate, but with additional measures and monitoring in place. Where sites are having to close, it’s important that insurers are notified and that the sites are safe and secure. The key for some of our clients will be monitoring how long site suspension goes on for to ensure that contractual rights aren’t arising without us having properly thought through the consequences.”
