Head of Residential Property, Lucy Barber's comments have been published in The Sunday Times article entitled 'How to buy your house before the stamp duty deadline'.

The article highlights how thousands of buyers stand to miss out on the current stamp duty land tax savings, as a result of delayed conveyancing, lending and search services due to overwhelming demand. Within the article, industry professionals share their top tips to ensuring your purchase completes before the 31 March 2021 deadline.

Lucy's tip advises buyers to "add a clause in their contract to provide that where completion goes beyond the deadline due to the fault of the seller, that the buyer can either withdraw from the transaction or that the purchase price is reduced accordingly". She adds, that a stamp duty clause is particularly important for buyers due to complete close to the deadline.
