Jo Edwards comments on the Owens v Owens Court of Appeal ruling and discusses the need for divorce law reform

Jo Edwards commented on the case of Mr and Mrs Owens, in which the Court of Appeal agreed that Mrs Owens had not satisfied the legal test for a divorce, in failing to show that Mr Owens had behaved in such a way that she couldn't reasonably be expected to live with him.

This leaves her having to remain married to Mr Owens until they have been separated for 5 years.  Following this highly unusual case, Jo expressed concern that couples would seek to "beef up" divorce petitions, which could lead to increased acrimony; and again called for a change to the law to provide for no fault divorce.

Jo was interviewed on several BBC shows including World at One on Radio 4, Radio 5 Drive Time, Radio 5 Breakfast and BBC Breakfast.

Jo has also been quoted in articles by The FT, Law Society Gazette, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Press Association, The Daily Post, Metro and Yahoo!
