Jonathan Lyness writes for Resolution on workplace trauma

Family Associate, Jonathan Lyness, has authored an article for Resolution's "The Review" magazine, titled 'Workplace Trauma'.

In his article - which is based on a session on the subject at this year's Resolution Conference - Jonathan notes that the unique role played by family practitioners can lead to workplace trauma. He comments, "irrespective of whether we have experienced our own traumas, or the wider context of our personal lives, the client’s trauma per se can have an intense impact on us".

He discusses the importance of identifying and managing these difficulties early on, particularly after an already challenging period of time working through a pandemic. He highlights steps that can be taken to identify and manage workplace trauma, including setting boundaries, debriefing with colleagues and recognising workplace burnout when it appears.
