Emily Exton

Managing Partner, Dispute Resolution

Emily is Managing Partner of Forsters. Working closely with the senior leadership team and the wider partnership, she is responsible for the operational management and strategic direction of the firm. Emily is directly involved in financial and regulatory issues, staffing and senior recruitment and all business development activity so as to ensure that Forsters is well positioned to meet the needs of its domestic and international client base and to build on the firm’s long-running success.

In the last ten years, Forsters has experienced significant growth across all practice areas. The firm remains focused on the Real Estate and Private Wealth sectors and is increasing its investment in the Corporate and Dispute Resolution teams. Our strategy is to ensure that our private and commercial clients are provided with a seamless and fully integrated service, whatever the opportunity or issue they are facing.

Emily's focus prior to becoming Managing Partner has been her contentious trust and estates practice (CTE). Her experience includes acting in relation to cases involving challenges to the validity of wills, rectification claims, removal of executors, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, breach of trust claims, trustee fees disputes and professional negligence claims arising in the context of trust and estates work. She has also regularly handled Court of Protection matters including applications for statutory wills and disputes involving deputies and attorneys.

Emily is recognised as a 'Leading Individual' in the Legal 500 2021 edition and an 'Eminent Practitioner' in the Chambers HNW Guide 2021.

Emily trained at Frere Cholmeley Bischoff, qualifying in 1995. She moved to Forsters in 1998, became a Partner in 2010 and has been Head of Dispute Resolution and a member of Forsters' Management Board since 2015. Emily was appointed as Managing Partner in February 2020. The Dispute Resolution team is now led by Benedict Walton (Commercial Disputes) and Roberta Harvey (CTE).
