Sarah is a Senior Associate in the Rural Land and Business team.
She advises landed estates, rural businesses, family offices and private clients on the acquisition, disposal, leasing and management of rural property across England and Wales. Her practice spans agricultural, commercial and residential property, with a particular focus on complex estates, farms and country houses.
Sarah has particular experience in the equestrian and sporting estate sectors, advising on the acquisition, disposal, leasing and management of stud farms, racing yards, training establishments and country estates with equestrian facilities. She also acts for owners and occupiers of grouse moors and sporting estates on acquisitions, sporting leases and the ongoing management of these assets, working closely with land agents and collaborating with colleagues across the firm’s corporate, employment, planning and private wealth teams.
Having grown up in the Yorkshire Dales, Sarah has a longstanding connection to the rural, sporting and equestrian sectors, giving her a practical understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing landowners and rural businesses. She also advises on development and renewable energy projects, from small-scale schemes to strategic land transactions, and has a particular interest in natural capital and biodiversity net gain.
Sarah was a member of the Northern Farming Conference Committee from 2021 to 2024 and continues to act for clients throughout North Yorkshire, County Durham and Northumberland. She is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), and holds a distinction in the STEP Certificate in Trusts and Estates.
